The Terre Haute Express of Wednesday March 2 says: Last evening at 7 o’clock GW Beachamp died at the residence of his brother, EP Beauchamp, 1,214 South Sixth Street of Bright’s disease. The deceased was born in Sullivan County in 1842 came to this county in 1850 and in 1852 removed to Putnam County where he was engaged in mercantile pursuits for about 15 years. In 1872 he went to San Francisco and for a number of years was on the writing force of the Chronicle of that city. He came to this city last August, since which time he has been connected with his brother on the Daily News. Three weeks ago he became too ill to work but his illness was not considered serious and but a few hours before his death the attending physician expressed the opinion that he would be out again in a few days.  At six o’clock however he began to sink rapidly and died at the hour above mentioned. The remains will be taken to his old home in Putnam County today. Wash Beaucamp as he was familiarly called was a genial and kindhearted gentleman who made friends of everybody and his loss will be sadly felt in this city. The remains arrived in this city Thursday morning for interment, the funeral services being conducted at the Christian Church by Elder OP Badger. - kbz
